The Story of Harry and Squish

Harry and Squish met one sunny Saturday afternoon while Harry was headed to the grocery store. There, outside the entrance in a cardboard box, peering over the edge and squished by his littermates, was Squish. For five bucks and Squish’s first ride home in a car, the two began their journey together. (No explanation needed on how the name “Squish” happened—it was obvious.) Squish was over-the-moon to have a name and a person. Deep down, he knew it was meant to be. Harry chose “Squish” because that pup was the squishiest, cuddliest creature he’d ever hugged. Snuggling him became Harry’s favorite thing in the world. So Squish it was. Harry grinned and thought, This little guy’s my buddy for life. Their adventure kicked off with a well-deserved bath, a deer antler for chewing, and a shared bed by nightfall. Harry was a funny little fellow. He did fine in school and had a million interests, but he never quite clicked with the other kids. Not because he judged their trends—he was simply too busy dreaming up expeditions and learning cool stuff. He was happiest planning future quests and imagining grand adventures. Harry loved to explore, hope, and dream those adventures alive. Meeting Squish was perfect. Harry instantly decided Squish would be his co-pilot on every expedition to come. Life’s a blast, and heck, it’s way more fun with a friend who loves the same things—and Squish was already on board, even for more bath time!

Two Pals, One Pack

Squish was a soulful pup who listened to Harry’s every word with big, bright eyes. He’d perk up the moment Harry grabbed his favorite sweater and headed for the mysterious high place where the jingle happened and shiny car keys appeared. Squish never thought about being “smart,” but he could always find his way home, no matter how far he wandered. If he got lost, he’d just chase something fun until he caught the scent of Harry again. That’s a pretty great trait for a pup. Both boys adored mischief. (One time… well, we’ll save that story for their journals…) Soon, Harry and Squish realized how alike they were—same zest for life, same love of adventure. They made a pact: they’d jot down every way dogs and people are similar, exploring the world together so everyone else could have as much fun as they did.

They knew they weren’t the only ones. Dogs and people must be alike everywhere—we both love family, community, and our packs. So Harry and Squish decided to prove it by journaling and filming their adventures. They especially loved showing how their differences fit like puzzle pieces—each filling the other’s gaps. Like the day Squish started shivering, nose high, sniffing hard. Harry looked outside and saw smoke. He called for help—the first one to do it! Harry and Squish saved the neighborhood because Harry trusted Squish’s nose, which smells a hundred times better than any human’s. That’s how Harry and Squish birthed the Doglish to English series: a tale of two buddies proving dogs and people are more alike than we ever imagined—and that we belong together.
